DNA Deep-dive: Exploring Flower MOUNTAIN's Yamano 3, Kotetsu and Morican

Founded by Yang Chao and Keisuke Ota in 2015, the Flower MOUNTAIN team combines elements of a shared passion for trekking, music and footwear into every last panel of the Yamano 3, Kotetsu and Morican silhouettes currently available at tower-london.com.

The Breath Design team touched base with ShoesBar and Italian company, Falc S.p.A, in 2016 - driving Flower MOUNTAIN to all-new heights by conquering international markets. This trio may throw their names into the hat for consideration when bidding for the modern footwear industry's most progressive technical and production know-how, combining Azzuri tradition with global distribution thereafter.

Running with the concept that “shoes are small works of architecture”, Flower MOUNTAIN is the result of Ota and Chao’s drive towards wearable artwork that combines intricate designs with the world around us.

Kicking things off with the Kotetsu, Flower MOUNTAIN has pulled together a trek-inspired, multi-panel upper using a pull-fastening cord; allowing those tempted into pushing the silhouette's boundaries an easy shot at styling out a tonally minimal cocktail. Technical fabric and plush suede create the upper, sat deftly atop a deep-groove rubber outsole and antibacterial cork insole. Crafted for those on the hunt for neck-breaking design and unique textiles, the Morican supplies your soles with ample all-day comfort for hours on end. If it wasn't for a leather toe leading into that mesh tongue, we'd expect a bumpy ride to say the least! Flower MOUNTAIN integrated trekking-style laces before a heel loop for easy-on action when under explorative pressure; an ultra-light outsole sits below the thick leather upper, balance is bliss. To quote Chao and Ota themselves, the Yamano 3 is a “City sneaker that doesn’t try to conceal its active soul” - not only this, but Flower MOUNTAIN's flagship silhouette channels an immersive experience of urban design, balanced Japanese fabrics and untapped emotional expression. Footwear doesn't have to be classical, contemporary conceptualisation has a place in all of our hearts. Think you're ready to take the journey up Flower MOUNTAIN, with TOWER in tow?
